EDITORIAL
Dear Readers,
In this newsletter, we are happy to share some results from the TCBL day that took place at Avantex Paris and to launch our FABRIX open call for SMEs contributions to the circular fashion communities of the cities of Rotterdam and Athens, and possibly €5000 grant. If you haven’t shared your thoughts about the HEREWEAR HUB yet, the survey is still open: we believe this post-project resource helps designing more sustainable solutions through bio-based, local and circular implementation, and it would be a kind gesture to provide feedback for a few minutes on this form.

INSPIRATIONS (or not)
Material Market Report 2025 Textile Exchange’s report that examines total global fiber production volume shows an uptick in production and continued reliance on new virgin fossil-based synthetic materials, though there were some positive takeaways as well.
The Guess AI model in Vogue August raised ire, for limiting the scope of beauty to Barbie-like criteria, and contrary to the Vogue mission to push creativity boundaries. More on the decision process
The global secondhand market is set to reach $367 billion by 2029, according to ThredUp’s 2025 Resale Report. A recent report by EY found that the global secondhand apparel market is growing three times faster than the overall apparel industry, with 36% of consumers buying secondhand more than ever.
Clean Fashion is attracting a growing number of citizens. It refers to healthier skin and body. It talks about humans respecting nature. It is used for two different marketing purposes: buy less or buy nostalgia. However, it would deserve to be better defined and speak of the real impact of “dirty” fashion on the workers who make it. US taxes on China imports? Imports still grew by approximately +4% after the decision, thanks to friendly peer countries (Indonesia, Vietnam). But beyond this, the question to be raised is the long-term strategy for Chinese fashion. It is interesting to note that the Government asks industries to stop overproduction and competition by price (competition without growth), by stopping investment support and funding in such projects. On that road, adopting new business models could rapidly scale e.g. for bio-based materials, premium design brands, innovative applications etc. More on the Made In China plan in French
